Serious Accident Moments Ago On Business Rt 50

There was a single car accident on Business Rt. 50 where the vehicle was heading west bound, lost control of the vehicle around Queen Ave, (?) and crossed over to the east bound lane and flipped over. There were 4 passengers in the vehicle, all were taken to the Hospital. One of the injured may have fractured his skull.

AMSA Beach Clean-Up

On Saturday, April 26. AMSA held their anuual Beach Clean-Up event on Assateague Island. As you can see from the photo's, a fair amount of debris was removed from the beach. Most people probably think those big rigs with slide-in campers just show up at Assateague and ride out on the beach for the weekends during the summer, then leave. Well this show an entirely different side of things. These folks care about the island and take great steps to take care of it. That's not all. AMSA donated $50,000.00, partnered with an organization known as Assateague Coastal Trust, who donated $10,000, and an anonymous party who donated $5000. These donations, which amounted to $65,000 will be matched by the Federal govt. for a total of $130,000. Some of these funds will be used to complete production on “Back to the Wild”, a film about Assateague’s wild horses, and complete a marine life exhibit which will include aquaria for the new visitor center scheduled to begin construction shortly. It's good to know that so many private citizens and organizations care enough to maintain such a fantastic natural resource.

Joe Albero's Report on ECI

LIVE at the Shorebirds Stadium

The Shorebirds started off the top of the 1st inning with a three up, three down against the Lexington Legends. In the bottom of the first the lead off hitter got a base hit but a double play ruined that. The Shorebirds also have a three up, three down inning.

Breaking News, some guy just proposed on top of the Shorebirds Dugout to a young lady and she said yes. Christian & Ingred.

Another three up, three down top of the inning and a three up, three down bottom of the second inning.

Flannery's has provided Shepard's Pie and Steamed Broccoli for the Press Box, Num, Num!

The Legends start off the third inning with a single but quickly get three outs to end the top of the third. The Shorebirds start off the bottom of the third inning with a single. Another base hit and there's a man on first and second, no outs. A sacrifice bunt advance a man to second and a man to third, one out. They walk the next batter, bases are loaded, one out. A pop up fly ball for an out still leaving a man on second and a man on third, 2 outs. Fly pop, three outs and the inning ends.

We start off the top of the fourth, three up, three down. Shorebirds get on base with one out. Wild pitch sends the man on first to second base. The batter strikes out and they end the inning once again without a score.

Lexington starts off the fifth inning with an out but the second batter barely plops a ball over the shortstops head and gets on base. Talk about a major error! The second baseman had a pop up fly, the man on first stood there knowing it was an easy catch for an out and he dropped the ball. The man on first started racing to second and the second baseman, (who had all the time in the world) kept bobbling the ball and the man on first actually made it to second without any problem whatsoever. That's a shame. OK, get this, the bases are now loaded for Lexington and there's only one out. A fly ball to center field for an out but the man on third scores and Lexington still has a man on first and second, 2 outs. The top of the fifth finally ends, thank God. The first Shorebirds batter strikes out. The second batter gets a base hit. They walk the next batter and we now have a man on first and second, one out. BASES LOADED LADIES & GENTLEMEN, one out! Pop up, two out, bases loaded. Anthony Martinez is up. Wild pitch and I do mean wild! ALL MEN ON BASE SCORE AND WE NOW HAVE A 3-1 BALL GAME! 2 outs. ANOTHER wild pitch and they now start warming up the bullpen. This inning is over and without a hit, three men score. Bitchin!

Three up, three down for Lexington and the Sorebirds in the sixth. It's obviously still 3-1 Shorebirds.

We start off the seventh inning and a batter get a base hit and then steals second. The second batter pops up to the right field and the man on second acts like he's going to run to third. The right fielder throws a perfect throw to the second baseman and they tag him out! The next batter is out and we end the top of the third. Great work Shorebirds! The first man strikes out but the next batter, Matt Tucker hits a beautiful triple and we may be looking at a Hardee's THICK BURGER! YES! Base hit and everyone in the Stadium now gets a THICK BURGER! The man on first steals second, two outs. The inning ends and the Shorebirds are up, 4-1!

There's still time to get out here tonight and see the FIREWORKS!

We start off the top of the eighth inning with a new pitcher, Brett Bordes. The first batter grounds out. The second batter gets hit with the ball and advances to first base. The third batter walks, one out, man on first and second. The fourth batter grounds out but base runners advance to second and third, two outs. The batter strikes out and we're out of the top of the 8th and the score is still 4-1. I don't care what anyone says, this is an exciting game. The first Shorebirds batter hit a deep fly ball to center field for an out. The second batter gets a base hit. Man on first, one out. The third batter gets hit with the ball, man on first and second. This Pitcher is outta here! Base hit, BASES LOADED, ONE OUT! BASE HIT, TWO MEN SCORE, 6-1, ONE OUT! There's a man on 1st & 3rd. We now have two outs. Three outs and we're not going to the top of the 9th.

One out, Two Outs, GAME OVER!

Hebron Firefighter Accident Case Goes To Grand Jury Monday

The fatal accident that happened in Hebron several months ago involving a Hebron Firefighter will be heard this coming Monday by a Grand Jury.

I was told today that the vehicle seen above was finally replaced yesterday with a new vehicle.

I was also told the Firefighter who was in the vehicle above has some very serious injuries. Information referencing this case may not be available till Tuesday morning as the Grand Jury is just loaded with cases.

Somerset County Has Some Serious Problems

"In February 2007, an investigation was initiated by the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation at the request of Somerset County State's Attorney Kristy Hickman into alleged physical abuse by Warden James L. Henderson of the Somerset County Detention Center. Hickman acknowledged a conflict of interest due to her close working relationship with Henderson.

The investigation continued for several months, and was eventually turned over to the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit. In July, Sheriff Mike Lewis was quoted in The Daily Times as saying: "If allegations are true, State's Attorney Kristy Hickman could ask the WBI to press criminal charges against Henderson, or she could allow a grand jury to weight findings for a potential indictment."

It is now April 2008 and the silence is deafening. After thousands of taxpayer dollars spent and hundreds of hours used by county and State Police detectives, will there be no closure? I am not an attorney, but common sense would seem to indicate if Hickman had a conflict of interest in this case from the beginning, that would exclude her from making the final decision as to whether this case should go to a grand jury. Even the perception of a conflict is reason to exclude oneself.

It is also puzzling that Hickman would state in the July 6 edition of The Daily Times: "Results would be forwarded to the Somerset County Commissioners, who hired the warden."

Why? The warden had already resigned at this point; since when would the commissioners start handling criminal cases? Obviously the commissioners never received a report, since they rehired Henderson to another supervisory position at dog control. County Commissioner Daniel Powell was quoted as saying: "We've never seen anything from anybody in terms of criminal charges or civil actions."

So the question remains: Where's the report?

If allegations were found to be untrue, I think those results should be published to clear Henderson's good name. If I were Henderson, I would be demanding this be done.

On the other hand, if the allegations were found true, why haven't charges been brought? Could it be the "good old boy" network, a cover-up or could someone be waiting for the statute of limitations to run out?

I do not know the answer, but I do know the public deserves answers.

Gary W. Cullen

Westover"

As Seen In The Daily Times HERE.

Mr. Cullen, you are absolutely correct! I received a call early this morning asking if I'd dig deeper and investigate what's going on here and quite frankly, it's a mess!

State's Attorney Kristy Hickman has absolutely failed to present the evidence and demanded closure. There is clear evidence to substantiate all charges brought forth, yet nothing seems to be happening to the people involved.

I have been informed that Warden Henderson assaulted and physically abused inmates, one of which he dragged through the Jail naked and another he dragged by his feet, (also naked) making a joke about his genitals. The evidence will also show the Warden regularly showed up at the Jail on weekends allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

I have also been informed that the Sheriff, (Bobby Jones) is also being investigated for his alleged involvement with the Warden by allowing Inmates to come to his home and pull weeds in his front yard as well as other allegations.

Warden Henderson resigned from his position and is now working as the head of Animal Control in Somerset County. Many wonder why he would be able to hold any position, let alone be charged for these acts?

It reminds me of something that belongs in a movie because ALL of the allegations brought forth can and have been substantiated, so I'm told. Perhaps with enough attention on this matter, (state wise) justice will be brought against those involved? There is also some talk about Grant money and the statute of limitations but time will tell.

I will say that these cases are still under investigation with the Attorney Generals Office and there will be more to come.

Breaking News

The Daily Times has laid off $170,000.00 worth of Employees! The struggling Gannett Publications is clearly in trouble and the timing locally couldn't be any worse.

With a new $3,000,000.00 Press and RENTING their newest location, it has been said that if it breaks, they're not fixing it any more. Others have also said, why buy the newspaper when you can access everything for free on their Website?

Perhaps things will change slightly if they actually sell their old building but quite frankly that money will run out soon as well and they'll have the exact same situation on their hands in just a matter of time.

My guess is that they'll be looking for more and more freelance people willing to work for whatever they're willing to buy? Time will tell.

GO HERE to see their stock trend and the article I wrote just days ago about their downward slump.

LONG LIVE THE BLOGS! What will Barrie do if they decide to close their door?

Pocomoke City Mayor McDermott Responds to Citizen Input on Skate Park Design Flaws

The professionals from ARC (American Ramp Company) designed the park and included the features which were requested by about 25 young people who took the time to attend a Public Meeting held at City Hall over a year ago. The features in the park were those requested by our young people during that meeting. I guess the "Tattler" did not get that memo.

This park is a beginning and can be expanded as needed. Those who do not appreciate the park can certainly use the public park available in Chincoteague (oh, that's right...it closed); or perhaps Billy could give you a ride to Salisbury and ride in their park...oh, that's right...they do not have a park either...Snow Hill?...Berlin?...Princess Anne?...Crisfield?...

Yeah, I really see your point Billy...and before you say anything else, let me go ahead and apologize for the river not being wide enough to suit your needs...I will take that up with the Creator.

If Billy would like to donate another $250,000.00 I would be happy to see if we could build a park that resembles the one in Virginia Beach...

************************

With a crappy Boss Hogg attitude like this, it is self evident WHY the Boss Hogg establishment did not run anyone against Mayor McDermott, they made a convert out of him...

Who's Worse?

Just moments ago a Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy was following behind this City of Salisbury Trash Truck. While driving west bound on Rt 50, the Trash Truck was throwing trash out of the top of the vehicle and actually hitting the Sheriff's Deputy Cruiser and the vehicle was not stopped. I'm told a box came flying out and a newspaper hit the Deputy's windshield and nothing was done about it.

Now everyone knows how "I" feel about the Sheriff's Department but my concern here is, this is how inner city's become slums. When you see something like this, you stop that vehicle and write them a citation and believe me, it will get back to the Department Head and they will make darned sure the doors are completely closed every time they hit the highway to dump their load.

One thing that has to be considered is if the Deputy was on his/her way into Court?

Is Matt Tilghman History?

Who will get the house? Will Barrie keep the last name? Who is the new man in her life?

The Mayor of Salisbury, Barrie Tilghman, was walking hand in hand with her new man yesterday in front of more than 100 people, testing the waters?

I've seen this woman kiss several men on the lips but showing this sign of affection, (to me, anyway) would be enough to say, enough is enough. Poor Guy?

SU's Relay for Life Tonight!

Opening Ceremonies will start at 6pm for Salisbury Universities Relay for Life tonight at Salisbury's Intramural Fields across from Seagull Stadium. Closing Ceremonies will be held at 6am Saturday. Immediately following the opening ceremonies will be a survivors lap to honor those who fought and beat cancer. This years theme is the movies. Each year a different theme is chosen for teams to be their most creative in costume and booths to help fund-raise money at the event. There are 107 teams and 947 registered participants!

As of this morning the SU Community has raised $67,672.56. That's $632.45 per team and $71.46 per registered individual. The grand total still does not count all the non registered participants, ongoing fundraisers, and tonight's event into the equation.

A tailgate fundraiser will be held at the Monkey Barrel starting at 2pm with specials. This is the final event at the Barrel of the week benefitting Relay for Life. Other fundraisers will be held at each booth at the Relay for Life teams and entertainment will be provided at the "relay track" on the intramural fields.

Please show your support and donate to this highly worthy cause.

Thank you Salisbury University and great job so far!

MAC INC. Breaks Ground

Ms. Peggy Bradford and the MAC Center broke ground just behind the Holly Center yesterday where more than 100 people showed up and attended. The Salisbury Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief and Mayor of Salisbury should take a hard lesson from Peggy on how to get a building built, raise the funds and do so for around 90% less than what the City of Salisbury delivers to its taxpayers.

Congratulations MAC!

"Breaking News" On New Salisbury Fire Department

As if the story I produced recently stating the new Fire Station cost the Taxpayers almost $35,000.00 a month, the plot thickens even more!

It turns out, back in 2004 & 2005 there was bonded money for a new Fire Station and new construction that had NOTHING to do with the Lease I already spoke of.

The ordinance that was passed were ordinance #1898 in 2004 and #1934 in 2005. In the FY09 Budget the annual payments for that money borrowed is as follows.

Principal annual payment $257,200.00
Interest annual payment $176,888.00

The ADDITIONAL MONTHLY PAYMENT ABOVE AND BEYOND THE LEASE PAYMENT IS, $36,166.00 per month! Now I should add that there were some additional items in these two ordinances and not 100% towards the Fire Station but the majority of these funds were either for the Fire Department purchase and or two less expensive Fire Trucks.

The actual MONTHLY PAYMENT for the new Fire Department is not $35,000.00 a month. It's actually, ARE YOU SITTING? $70,930.58 PER MONTH!

The grand total ACCORDING TO THESE NUMBERS is $13,462,736.00 I'm told the bonded money was a 15 year note, not a 20, like the Lease. If I'm wrong on it being 15 years and it's actually 20 years, tack on another $2,169,940.00!

Debra Jeanne Palfrey DC Madame Found Dead..

The DC Madame who prosecuters seized everything she owned last year was found dead in a shed out sider her mothers Tarpon Springs, FLA home.
Ms. Palfrey's only defense were the phone records and appointment books that she had with the A-List of Clients that these records contained.
Her defense was that she offered clients a date, an escort, a wonderful weekend for the time that they were in town on business that did not include sex. Many men come to Washington on business and would just like to meet someone to spend time with, to do things with, with woman from the area, but not to have any strings attached. If a relationship was to develop it was off the record, and Ms Palfrey was unaware of any sexual services performed. Phone numbers were not exchanged and wives never got phone calls telling them that there husbands were having a good time while they were away on business.
A service that many men are willing to pay for. Friendships with no strings. Dates, that knew their way around a ball room, a diplomatic dinner, or a Congressional power lunch that didn't include embarrassing their employer.
The list that Ms. Palfrey possessed included the who's who in Washington, and there was much to be lost if it were ever to be released.
I don't for one minute believe that Ms. Palfrey committed suicide. Someone didn't want her to talk and they knew that she would. They shut her up, and they shut her up good.
It's too bad. The government had no proof that anyone in her company ever acted inappropriately, by selling sex. They sold their companionship, their social skills, their pedigree.
After being convicted of raquetteering and money laundering , she was looking at a 15 to 20 year sentence. She described that at as a life sentence at her age. And that she never wanted to go back. She had been staying with her mother in Florida until she could get back home. The government seized and froze all of Ms. Palfrey's accounts, and locked her out of her home.
For the last two years she has been living on the good graces of friends and family. She was hoping that some of her three decade long clients would come forward to speak on her behalf and help her but nothing. No one had the nerve to say they even knew her.

It's a sad sad day.
She was once on top of her game . She had customers that were among the most powerful men in the country. What caused her to walk into that shed next to her mothers trailer in Florida, pull out the tricycle and tie a rope around her neck and end it all?
Life from this point forward was too overwhelming?
No one really cared?
None of the feminist who should have been supporting her efforts where there?
Where were the feminist? Where were her friends when she was on top? Where where the scumbag clients whom she provided services for? Why weren't they at her trial to state that the girls did not perform sexual acts? Where were they?
Where were we?
