Here We Go Again!

No sooner do I post something about the Draw Bridge going off, it happens again for the third time today! However, this time, two of the people coming from the west side chose to drive through the dropped warning bars, bells going off and horns sounding off, they were going to make it! And they did. However, not without the eye of the tiger! LOL

I should note that this time around the Bridge did go up, yet nothing passed underneath.

It's A Crap Shoot On Mill Street Today

I don't know what they're doing but the Draw Bridge has gone off twice today. I say gone off because I haven't actually seen it go up. The polls keep coming down and there's a lot of bell ringing going on but at least twice today traffic has been stopped so they can do what they're doing, which I have no clue what they're doing? LOL

The John Robinson Case

Last week I attended the John Robinson trial in which he was represented by attorney Charles Jannace.

In short, Charles actually did, (what I felt was) an excellent job. He spoke of how John had been doing the same routine for more than 10 years straight and when they discussed where everyone was standing, clearly, Robinson was facing away from everyone when the gun discharged.

The end result was simply the fact that the gun did in fact go off and by Robinson's own admission, he had to have been the one that pulled the trigger. John never shied away from being responsible and did in fact own up to his own "stupidity."

In my own personal opinion, I believe it was a mistake and an accident. He wasn't showboating and waving the gun around in fun. Ultimately the Judge did find him guilty of reckless endangerment but lowered the findings to a PBJ, (probation before judgement). That means he is not guilty of a crime and once probation is over it will be wiped off his clean record.

I have to agree with John in the sense that we have all done stupid things in our life time. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt here and life goes on for all involved. I do have a lot of notes from the trial but going into the details doesn't matter because the end result is what it is.

Again, on a personal note, after hearing Charles Jannace present his case, I'm amazed a finding of guilt was presented. I guess we can't win them all. The PBJ was IMO the right move by the Judge.

A LITTLE FELLER IN EAST TEXAS

Barack Obama, the Presidential Democratic Party candidate, is for banning all guns in America. He is considered by those who have dealt with him as a bit more than just a little self-righteous.

At a recent rural elementary school assembly in EastTexas, he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then he said into the microphone, 'Children, every time I clap my hands together, a child in America dies from gun violence.'

Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud EastTexas drawl, pierced the quiet and said: 'Well, dumb-ass, stop clapping!'

100 Comments And Counting!

Man, you guys are keeping me busy this morning! It's not even 11:00 AM and there's been more than 100 comments already this morning! There's actually been a lot more than 100 because people are commenting on Posts put up over the weekend still.

I found it interesting how the Pohanka thing went into full damage control mode and obviously employees of the company came to their own defense quick but once called out, things stopped immediately.

The Idiot wanting to post comments with links refuses to go away and thinks his word is gospel referencing the Presidential Race. Here's a good idea. Go to old man Duvall's Site and post all the comments you want with links. He could truly use the attention/hits and you know what, maybe Michael will even let you on board with his Blog?

In the mean time, keep it rolling. The comments are what makes the world go around.

[9:41 AM] Michele+Costa says: HELLO LUIS,

I was also wandering if there is a software patch for the BIOS to ignore the ID from the AC power adapter therefore allowing the battery to charge................It is really annoing to use a laptop connected to the AC permanently, and with a battery charged at 15%-20%........

Waiting for your reply, thank you in advance

Michele Costa

Mr. Luis,

I do have still a problem.......

The issue related to my DELL INSPIRON 1526, SERVICE TAG 3BPMMD1, EXPRESS SERVICE CODE 7238520757 ,it regards the AC ADAPTER not being recognized by the Laptop resulting in the battery NOT being charged. See Dell's knowledge base Journal ID 08246VTBNJ

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&dl=false&l=en&s=gen&docid=358E1DBD3B7F4BCDE040A68F5B2877AE&doclang=en&cs=#5

Now I pinpointed further the issue and ruled out the AC adapter, since I compared it with a friend's and I determined that the plug inside the Laptop has a contact issue.

Now, I bougth the system in March 2008, in Best Buy Sarasota, Fl. but I am staying in the Dominican Republic for the next three months.

Could you direct me to Dell's local support, to change the defective part, I believe in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic Dell has a support center.

Regards, Waiting for your reply........

[9:47 AM] Michele+Costa says: Do you know if there is a patch fr the BIOS, to avoid reading the Ac adapter ID, therefore allowing the battery to charge?????

[9:56 AM] Agent McCowan says: You do have a 1 year limited warranty with Dell through Best Buy but it is an in store process
[9:56 AM] Michele+Costa says: so if I have it repaired down here, do I loose the warranty????
[9:57 AM] Agent McCowan says: That would void the 1 year warranty \
[9:57 AM] Michele+Costa says: Well, then could I ship Fed-X to the Sarasota store????
[9:58 AM] Agent McCowan says: Then how would they ship it back to you
[9:58 AM] Michele+Costa says: using the same international carrier???
[10:00 AM] Agent McCowan says: We don not ship to the Dominican Republic
[10:02 AM] Michele+Costa says: well, then I am really disappointed, since when buying a DELL at BEST BUY, I should have been informed, that the support was only going to be US based.......It seems like it's a poor strategy, both for DELL and BEST BUY............thank you and have a nice day....I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER

[10:03 AM] Michele+Costa says: thank you

Media Monday - Putting Lipstick on That Pig

Unlike some of his predecessors, I've never accused Daily Times reporter Greg Latshaw of misstating fact. However, in another faux expose of the Wicomico County Liquor Control Board, Latshaw seems to paint a picture where stealing from the taxpayer is much ado about nothing. I was almost waiting to read, "It's for the children."

If you want your tax dollars to be doled out to sundry organizations, by unelected individuals, then I guess all is well in Wicomico County. Of course those that don't see anything wrong are usually the first to scream when their pet charity is left off of the list or tax dollars are given to groups that they oppose.

Do you honestly believe that your tax dollars are well spent taking dispensary employees to drive stock cars at Dover International Speedway? Is your employer going to give you a $1,000 watch upon your retirement? Does your employer cater the wake of one of your family members? Read more ...

It's 8:00 AM, Do You Know Where The Gordy/Kratovil Customers Are?

Sunday On The Downtown Plaza

Why should the people renting apartments from Doug Church and others on the Plaza actually take their trash to the Dump when they can simply drop it off on the Plaza?

This has been an ongoing question I have expressed for years here on this Blog. As a matter of fact, Mike Dunn, (former Council President) brought it up in a Council Meeting years ago because this Blog was getting so much attention, they thought if they at least mentioned it on PAC 14, people would think they were actually doing something about it.

Well, obviously it didn't work and obviously the Citizens of Salisbury are paying additional taxes for the FOB's to have their trash picked up for FREE, while everyone else in the City is paying more for services and getting less.

Oh well, it's not like you weren't informed.

Where's The Fries?

I simply do not understand such a stamp? Wednesday, Thursday, Friday? Where's The Fries? Does anyone know what this stamp stands for?

Why do I get the feeling I'm about to reject a TON of comments? LOL

The Clear Channel Radio Shake Up!

On Tuesday, of this past week, Frank, Ed and Bill got an email asking us to be on a conference call with the RVP, Tom Thon, and the HR person from San Antonio. So on Thursday at 1:00 we log on and Tom Thon goes, "There will be no conference call today we'll be at your office in 5 minutes." So at that point they pretty much knew what was going to happen. He comes in kicks Ed and Bill out of Franks office, which is where they were all waiting for him, and tells them not to go far. He lets Frank go, then goes into Ed's office lets him go then comes into Bill's. He walks into Bill's office with the HR person, introduces himself and says we've made some changes. We've let Frank go, Ed and Bill. This is pertaining to some alleged inappropriate emails. They ask, which emails we're talking about? The lady from HR says we've pulled all your emails. They said that's fine, but exactly what email or emails are we referring to? They allegedly never told any of them. They handed their key cards and office key and the HR person walked out. Then they called Melanie, who was out on a sales call, and had her come back into the office, where they let her go.

Now here is the background info. They had a lady work there, Wanda Wendell, who us to work for CC, (Clear Channel) in Fredrick Maryland before she quit. Her Daughter passed away and it was very traumatic on her, which I can only imagine. However after a year or so she contacted Frank and wanted to come down here and work. This is person who sold over $300,000.00 worth of non traditional radio and would be an assets to their team. However when she came down here it was apparent she couldn't do this any longer. She often cried at her desk, walked around like she owned the place, and never took the time to meet any of them. The people working there were friends, not just coworkers.

That being said it was apparent to everyone including management that she just wasn't going to cut it so they let her work from her home (which basically meant she didn't do anything) for 3 months, all the while she continued to get paid. When that offer was almost up, it was at that point she contacted HR about some inappropriate emails. HR contacted Frank about this but never really asked about his side of things and was already very accusing. They also feel that there were 3 people in the office that conspired to bring them down.

Frank did run the office like a *MASH* unit and they didn't wear ties and goofed around like brothers and sisters but at the end of the day they got the job done. They all felt like the company they gave everything to turned their backs on them and let them go.

There was never any porn sent around or half naked people. Sure, they forwarded political satire, funny cartoons, and interesting stories, but no different than some of the stuff posted here on Salisbury News. Most of the time this stuff was only sent to certain people, people that we were friends with outside of the office. None of it was ever malicious or meant to be that way.

The part that really bothers everyone is that HR or Tom Thon never asked them anything. He just came in and let everyone go, no ability to even defend themselves.

They've done a lot in this community, Bill coached Pop Warner football for Delmar for 5 years. He spearheaded the Clear Channel involvement with Toys for Tots taking them from 3,000 toys and $500 to over 24,000 toys and thousands of dollars. They worked out the details with Pohanka when they raffled off the Mercedes McLaren earning Toys for Tots $60,000! They also started the Clear Channel internship program and volunteered all their time for it. Clear Channel didn't pay any extra for it and with their pay commission based if they weren't selling, they were actually losing money.

They saw it as a way to give back to the community and to the students of the area colleges. They interviewed all the interns and after the internship was over and helped them get jobs either at the station or where ever they wanted to go. I don't believe they're trying to brag about what they did, they're simply just trying to show everyone that they're not the type of people that would do what they are saying they did.

Clear Channel obviously took the word of one person and made some major changes without warning. This proves that you just never know what's going to be next Folks. I call it the Barrie Tilghman style of management. From everything I've gathered, sales were not way down but I do know that the Daily Times are dropping people like there's no tomorrow. WBOC just dumped $13,000,000.00 into their new facility and there's always a new fact on a regular basis at WMDT. It's no wonder Bill Baker the Rumpshaker dropped his gig there and went onto greener pastures before the hammer dropped.

We'll have to wait and see if any legal action is taken against Clear Channel Radio from any of these individuals because to me, from what I've learned so far, no one truly knows any details behind what happened. Time will tell.

Just When I Thought I Had Seen Everything...

And Salisbury and OC gripe about their Adult Businesses!
This little gem is just outside of Casper, Wyoming on the road to the Airport.
If you will look closely you will see that the door on the right allows one to drive in. What this picture does not show is that you can actually drive thru!
It was taken at 60mph and I just couldn't capture it quickly enough.
I am simply perplexed by the entire concept of a drive- thru-massage.
Our 9 year old was with us and we were trying to down play the absurdity of this and he said "Maybe they Massage your hand as you drive through"...
You never know what your going to see along the highway's of America, but it never ceases to amaze me!

A Letter To The Editor

"Sir,

Are you the person who is screening comments about posts for sbynesw.com?

I have been trying to make the point that the last two presidential elections have been stolen by the Republicans. There is considerable evidence of this. Every comment I post is diapering! Please explain this.

You claim you site is "Salisbury's most reliable and unbiased source for your local news?". If this is truly a question, then the answer is NO! It is totally Republican biased!

Supposed I offer to BUY advertising on your site for Ralph Nader for president. Would you sell it to me?

Albert J. Klappenberger

I find it amazing how some people come on here and get all pissed off that I won't allow their own agenda to be expressed without ANY work on their own behalf. My response was simply to say, if you want to express your opinion, create your own Blog and work 18 hours a day to become the #1 Blog in the state. This gentleman was attempting to put in a multitude of links to sites all over the place and I refused to allow it.

Look, I don't care what anyone says, Nader won't even come close. Secondly, I don't SELL space on this Blog and this is EXACTLY why, I can't be bought. Oh, take the guys money, say some nice things about Nader and don't say anything negative in the mean time. After all, it's good money, right? WRONG! Take your money and buy space in the Daily Times. First of all, they desperately need it. Secondly, go to the Metropolitan next and believe me, they'll suck up to anything you want said to the point if you give them enough money, they'll spread your word on the front cover and then write a favorable article about your cause inside too boot.

Salisbury News doesn't flow that way. Like I said, create your own Blog and spread the word on your own.

Local Church Group Shuts Down Plaza On Sunday

While this group enjoyed having the Downtown Plaza all to themselves, it really didn't matter because the Downtown area was dead yesterday anyway.

It's very sad to see that pretty much everything was shut down anyway on Sunday and there's just no way things are going to improve until they bring in an anchor store and revitalize the Plaza.

We need Barber Shops, Coffee Shops, things of that nature. The Mayor came up, (along with Comegys) with this great Arts District, yet NOT ONE person has taken advantage of it. More evidence that it's all fluff without any delivery.

The Downtown Plaza should be THE PLACE to visit, just like the Zoo or City Park. On beautiful days like Sunday was, that place should be packed with people and it's not.

I personally believe this has been one of the biggest failures Barrie Tilghman has created in her terms as Mayor. Anyway, it was nice to see people from this Church enjoying the Plaza care free.

Flooding In Crisfield

Got some shots Sunday of the flooding in Crisfield if you want to add them to other "storm shots.

These were taken at the intersection of 7th Street and West Main Street(Rte 413)about two hours before high tide hit... Alot of others out taking pics too. In the first picture, 7th Street looking west is totally submerged.

Pohanka Scams Metropolitan Contest?

"Hey Joe,

I have looked through the Metropolitan Magazine and see that Pohanka yet-again won. Being an ex-employee, (leaving on good terms), let me enlighten you on how they win. When it is time to vote, Pohanka e-mails all of it's employees and offers them extra incentives to provide names and addresses of friends and family to vote for them. The more names and addresses provided by the employee, the bigger the incentive they get. This is totally unfair to the other honest dealerships around that work just as hard and are just as good if not better than them. Why must they feel that they have to cheat instead of earning what they get?! I refused to do this each time that the email reached me because it is just plain wrong!"

Obama and Biden

Obama and Biden were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.
Sarah Palin walked by and asked what they were doing.

'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said Joe, 'but we don't have a ladder.'

Sarah Palin took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement, announced, 'Eighteen feet, six inches,' and walked away.

Biden shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a woman!
We ask for the height and she gives us the length!'

Obama and Biden currently work for the government.

OCEAN CITY SPARED SERIOUS DAMAGE FROM TROPICAL STORM HANNA

Ocean City saw the effects of Tropical Storm Hanna with little rain and no serious damage. While Hanna continues on a northern path, Ocean City officials remind citizens to be cautious of strong rip currents and large waves.

Emergency officials have not responded to any calls for power outages or structural storm damage. A small number of calls were received due to building alarms, which is common in rainy and windy weather conditions. At this time, no storm related injuries have been reported.

Aren't The Sunday Sale Ads Enough?

If you purchased the Sunday Daily Times, what a rip off! Granted, there were actually two articles I liked Sunday. One of them was the article on the Dispensary System. We've had the same documents for some time now but have been entirely too busy to put it out there and Greg did a great job with his article.

The other article I enjoyed was what I would call the defense article where the Daily Times already did an article a week or so ago about who's running for Mayor but I came back that same day and told them how wrong they were, so they actually did ANOTHER one with my corrections in it. TOO FUNNY!

Nevertheless, that was it! Seriously Folks, if you're not buying that paper any more, believe me, for the $1.25 they charge for the Sunday paper, this week was a real waste of money. The entire paper was about as big as a Saturday or Monday paper!

All that being said, click on the image above and take a look at one of the inside front few pages looked like. It was loaded with yet more advertising and no news. They say you get what you pay for. Well, in the case of the Daily Disappointment, you're not getting anything for your money. I can truly say that you could have easily gone on line, (if you don't have Dial Up) and read the two articles I mentioned and that would have pretty much been it.

It's very rare you see their Reporters anywhere any more and even less photographers. Most of their photos are being sent in by readers, (I'll guess) and like I've said in the past. The Daily Times pays $40.00 per picture that they use. So when you're sending in a photo, ask for the $40.00 they're paying everyone else or don't let them have it and send it here to Salisbury News instead. Boy, wouldn't that steam them up!

Although I purchase the Daily Times to see if I happened to miss anything and or if for nothing else to see who's passed away, even I am very close to calling it quits. I think they're on their last legs Folks. What do you think?
